How does you media product represent particular social groups?
A magazine portrays a life style to people in which they
influence people’s fashion, music and style in general. My magazine shouts out a life style which is
based on someone’s love of theatre. The
age of my social group would be late teens and early 20s. In particular, students that see a future in
the musical industry. My magazine
implies that the group of people it is aimed at is typically female. My evidence of this is the use of the colour
purple as well as the evidence in my feature article implying attraction to a
male. On my front over is an image of a
girl who is seen with a black top on, minimal make up and quite a natural
look. This sells an image to the reader
that they should be happy with themselves and can stand up bold with
confidence. I made sure that was the
image of my magazine as I believe that this is what theatre is all about and
that my target audience would be happier with having a positive, ‘’can-do’’,
confident attitude. I didn’t include
much depth in technology or aggressive sport within my magazine as I don’t
believe my target audience. The
technology of my audience would be basic and I don’t see them as being
interested in the latest news to do with it.
They wouldn’t be interested in aggressive sport as they would be very
mind set on keeping fit but through sports such as dance, yoga and calmer
things. Due to my target audience being
students, I tended to avoid things with too much expense as students can not
usually afford such luxuries. My images
represent people with a cheeky, confident look as they would be used to being
on stage and performing in front of others which is something readers would
want within themselves.
