exceptions, most of the magazines above are aimed at middle aged women due to
the tone and context of these particular magazines. Although they publish many hard copies of

UK women and one in five uk adults through their portfolio of 19 magazine and
26 websites.
Hearst Rodale

and Rodale International (http://www.rodaleinc.com/international) in the United States and publishes
three market leading magazines.
Their
magazines range a lot in target audience however, the average price of their
magazines would be fairly average due to the fact that they are still good
quality but aren’t aimed for an upper class audience.

Bauer Media
clearly has a broad range of magazine and do already have some that specialise
in music. One example of this is Kerrang
who appeal to a rock audience which is the complete opposite to the audience I
intend to appeal to.
Bauer does
have a lot of customers however, claiming that Bauer Media UK reaches over 22
million consumers every week but also claim that they sell to a world-class and
to a very wide audience which is clear when looking at the magazines they
publish.
While the amount of people having time to read magazines are
increasing, with 85% of the populations claiming to read a magazine, the way
they are carrying out this activity has changed. Many magazines have now resorted in
publishing their magazines online; and if not allowing certain information from
their magazine to be available on the internet.
It is clear to see why people are buying more magazines are
there are 3,200 different consumer titles
compared to 30 years ago when there were only 1,383. There is simply more choice to fit a greater
audience which is why With prices, articles and structures being more diverse,
there are 1.4 billion magazines sold a
year.
Magazines aren’t cheap though as advertises spent £745
million in 2008 while consumers spend approximately £2 billion on buying their
magazines. Magazines can soon go bust
with only 3 in ten surviving more than 4 years in the industry but this isn’t
surprising when you look at the fact that in the last decade, there have been
500 new magazines released every year.
